DRG is a Georgia Limited Liability Company located at 4785 Fulton Industrial Boulevard .  The formation of DRG in the fall of 2002 marks the beginning of Dreamsan’s foray into the Materials Processing and Material Marketing segments of the recycling industry.  The initial facility currently occupies sixty-six thousand square feet that offers ample space for Phase One of the state-of-the-art commingled materials processing equipment capable of handling 100 TPD of newsprint, plastic and metal rigid containers, mixed paper and glass.  The first phase of the facility officially began operation February 18, 2003 and was formally commissioned for service June 26, 2003 .  DRG has now completed plans for Phases Two and Three of the facility to be completed later this year.  The expansion will significantly increase the capacity of the facility, add additional automation and processing efficiencies and introduce a new option for glass recycling for the communities of metro Atlanta .

The facility has a 5,000 square foot paper-processing floor dedicated to receiving and processing newsprint for directed ship to the Southeast Paper mill located in Dublin , Georgia .  The clean indoor paper processing component has allowed DRG to maintain a material contamination level below 1 percent – the best category on the Southeast paper grading scale.  DRG currently processes only the newsprint collected by Dreamsan, Inc. – approximately 700 tons per month.  The facility layout was designed to permit DRG to double the present volume without sacrificing quality in processing.

The commingled materials sorting line was designed to be implemented to two phases.  Phase one was commissioned into service February 18, 2003 .  The line includes a high capacity in-the-floor infeed hopper, 36 inch wide infeed and sorting belts, disc screen, plastic perforator, overhead belt magnet and air sorter.  The system is rated at 5 tons per hour operating capacity.  Material is sorted into 10 categories as it travels down the line: 1) OCC at the infeed, 2) Trash at the disc screen, 3) HDPE natural, 4) HDPE mixed colors, 5) mixed paper, 6) PETE mixed colors, 7) steel and tin, 8) aluminum, 9) clear glass, 10) amber/green glass.  Markets for all materials have been established by DRG and secured by extended term agreements.

With the implementation of Phase II, the current sorting line will become a dedicated fiber line with as many as 5 sort categories for fiber.  Commingled rigid containers will be automatically transferred to a new elevated sorting line equipped with 3 plastic perforators, magnets, air sorter self unloading hoppers and a high capacity auto-tie baler.  The expansion of the sorting equipment will provide an increase in the capacity rating up to 8 – 10 tons per hour.  The expanded capacity will allow Dreamsan, Inc. to add new communities to it service area and open the door for other collection companies to utilize the material processing expertise of DRG.  Phase II is scheduled to be on line by the end of fourth quarter 2003.

Phase III of the DRG business expansion plan is scheduled for completion before the end of first quarter 2004.  Phase III will operate as GLASSTECH Manufacturing of Georgia, a post consumer glass processing facility designed to manufacture abrasives, filtration material, golf coarse sand and miscellaneous specialty products. Glass is traditionally the most difficult component of the municipal waste stream to recycle.  Yet, because of its density and weight, glass has the greatest impact on the recycling goals of most communities.  Conservative estimates for container glass available for collection in the Atlanta area exceeds 550 tons per day and 172,000 tons annually.  This facility is designed to provide a financially profitable solution to assist with this disposal problem.  The GLASSTECH process will add considerable value to the glass in the waste stream by processing it into a consumer finished product that meets the needs of a committed, known market.  As a superior abrasive medium, the product has value that produces significant returns for all parties in the product chain: manufacturer, retailer and the end user – the necessary elements for a successful product.  This facility and it’s market will provide curbside collection companies an additional home for their glass, stimulate an increase in the number of programs that can accept glass – making more post consumer glass available to container manufacturers, save energy required to make virgin glass from sand and make a significant contribution to a higher percentage of attainment of the state and local recycling objectives.  The implementation of Phases II and III will add approximately 25 new jobs to the business area.
